Above are matte paintings and environment painting I developed for the student-led short film Stargazer (2019), as well as a sky matte painting developed for another student short, The Neverending Story (2020).

My focus throughout the development of all of these was to create a seamless sky background for the lighting department to use when creating the final composite of these shorts. The two vertical images that feature grass and/or water were illustrated to accommodate a dramatic pan for the beginning and end of Stargazer (2019). Both the directors and myself wanted these matte paintings to be vibrant yet somewhat realistic depictions of the sky to create a more fantastical tone throughout the short.
