The Willow Maid
This is an exploratory personal project inspired by Erutan’s The Willow Maid. It will be added onto over time, expanding with environment, character, and prop designs, as well as a storyboard animatic. This project began in February of 2021 and will continue as long as I see fit.
The tale of the Willow Maid is a tragic one - a forest nymph of a willow tree is approached by a man who wishes to take her as his bride. Though she constantly refuses his advances, he eventually tries to take her by force in the hopes he can persuade her otherwise, cutting down her tree to take her out of the forest. This kills her, as she cannot leave the forest nor her tree, which he fells.
